What is this event about ?

This re-enactment event covers the Battle of the Bulge which took place in December 1944 up to January 1945 in the Belgian Ardennes.

After the re-enactment, camps can be freely visited by the public.

Before the re-enactment event itself, a few tanks of the Royal Mons Auto Moto Club are performing a tank ride in the Region. The RMAC is the group organizing the Tanks in Town event in Mons each year.

Personal note

The Tank ride was an awesome experience, unfortunately the Stuart was short of fuel and the Sherman got stuck just at the end of the ride.
The Stuart finally managed to rejoin the Battlefield of the BGHRM event as the Hetzer.

I met a friend of mine, Cédric Forjan, he was standing in the turret of the Sherman during the whole tank ride. He owns a blog where he details his own outings with his Jeep.

The re-enactment event was a great opportunity to see German soldiers (coming on purpose from Germany), American soldiers (from Belgium) and a splendid show with "smokes & fumes"
The show lasted one hour and half, the tank ride lasted four hours.

It was a great day with snow surrounding us all day long.

Year of visit: December 2008
